Department Description:
The Department of Microbiology is a fundamental branch in the field of Veterinary Medicine that dedicates high-quality education and service in microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students. We offer basic and advanced quality education in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Virology, General and Systemic Bacteriology, Mycology, Helminthology, Protozoology and Entomology, Immunology, Food Hygiene and Quality Control, and Meat Inspection.

Our vision is to provide a compelling and relevant Microbiology curriculum that trains students at a high standard to ensure high-quality education and innovative research and provide exposure to a diverse scientific community in the public and private sectors.
Department Mission:
Our department participates in the graduation of undergraduate and postgraduate students at the College of Veterinary Medicine through teaching basic and advanced microbiology-related courses and conducting research. We are fully committed to training the next generation of scholars, scientists, and veterinarians with high scientific literacy and imparting appropriate skill sets for diagnosing and dealing with microbial infections. Another mission of the department is to offer required expert advice to government agencies, citizens, and industries about microorganisms and their impacts on our health, economy, and sustainability of food resources.
Learning Outcomes at Department:
- Students will acquire, articulate, retain, and apply specialized language and knowledge relevant to microbiology.
- Students will acquire and demonstrate competency in laboratory safety and routine and specialized microbiological laboratory skills applicable to microbiological research or clinical diagnostic methods, including accurately reporting observations and analysis.
- Students will communicate scientific concepts, experimental results, and analytical arguments clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Department Study Methods:
The study methods are compatible with the Bologna Process requirements, which depend on theoretical and practical lectures, projects, reports, seminars, essays, and quizzes.

The language of instruction at the college is English for all courses.
